Another forgotten post! LOLS! On the 24th of December 2010, my whole maternal family - mum's side - got together to celebrate Christmas!! :)
It was held at my home, or rather, my family's home. Haha.
Such practices are a yearly affair. It's amazing how bonded such a big family can be.
My grandma (my mum's mum) has NINE CHILDREN!! 8 girls, 1 guys...That makes 8 son-in-laws and 1 daughter-in-law for her...and that makes her a grandmother of 12!
That makes 22 people in my house that day...excluding 2 relatives and my maid. Haha! That'd add up to be 25 people. It's one rowdy Christmas celebration! Haha.
It's really amazing how such a big family can be so knitted together. Because in big families there are a lot of fights and all...Like my dad's side...Haha.
Anyway, here's a lil' of what happened.
We met...duh...Makan...duh...and we had a lil' performance session!
1st performer was Jireh! Probably the cutest boy on the planet. He's so himself, so unreserved, so naturally cute that you cannot help but love him. He doesn't bother to attract attention, but the attention just goes to him because he's a natural. The thought of him makes me wanna cuddle him. LOLS! He's like a live teddy bear that runs around and plays and all...LOLS!
He's Uncle Chee Seng and Aunty Tracy's son. Here's a pic of me & him! :)
Me & Jireh! :)
From the picture you could tell what he performed eh? Haha. He's learning classical guitar! The thing is, he brought his guitar chair, music stand and his classical guitar footstool!! Whoa...All his gear makes him a true blue classical guitarist man! LOLS!
And he's really good for his age. Check out the chord he's holding in the picture...An "F" barre chord. I wasn't holding barre chords till I was primary 6 man. Haha.
Anyway, I videoed all their performances down...just haven't got time to upload...I will upload soon and update this post :) haha.
2nd performer was his sister, Gracy! :)
She sang a piece...can't remember what song is it. Haha. Gracy's personality is super different from her brother. She is super bright, plans ahead and is confident of herself and what she does.
When she sings, you can see she is trying to prove herself to everyone...putting all her technique confidently together to present to you something she's proud of.
Unlike her natural, unreserved brother, she attracts much less attention as the audience is here for a impromptu, frank and funny performance. Her performance is on another league altogether. This leaves the crowd of relatives chatting away and some people didn't even know she finished singing her song until people started clapping. LOLS!
She's the boss man. Got foresight & all...but she must learn to cope with failure cos can see that she's someone who holds high expectations of herself.
After her is my very own SISTER! Haha! She's the standard enthu person with her friends but not with people she's not so close with. Haha. Who wouldn't? But she still has got the enthu, frank and accommodating flair about her when it comes to big groups. She's also a natural like Jireh...just more reserved. Haha. Jireh lets it all out. Haha!
I also got a video of her playing...Ok, not A video...I got 3 videos of her on the saxophone! First video is of herself arguing with the audience not to volunteer her...until she relented and took her saxophone mouthpiece. Second video was spent sitting there with her instrument and trying to convince everyone that she sucks...HAHA!
Finally, the 3rd video is what we're looking for...the performance...& I'll only upload the 3rd video...Haha.
As you can see...getting her to play another song took quite some time...it took up at least 100MB of video recording time...HAHAHA!
After all the performances was GAMES TIME!!
We played the blanket game...haha...We split into 2 teams and had a blanket in between. Whenever the game masters drop the blanket, we'd have to shout the person's name that's just behind the blanket. Whoever shouts first will get the other player over to your side. Game ends when there's only one person left on the team. Haha.
I came up with all sorts of ideas to aid my team...HAHA! Such as lying down on the floor, distracting the opponent by saying "HI!" while the actual player has time to shout his/her name, changing specs, which wasn't very feasible because after changing specs, you wouldn't be able to see! HAHAHA!
Had fun...Gelling with the younger kids and all.
After that was Christmas caroling! :) As usual, I was on the guitar & my dad's the caroling-leader. Haha. Sang a rendition of about 10-12 songs and ended of with worship and prayer.
After the whole session, Joy joy (Uncle Francis & Aunty Betty's daughter) said that she felt the tangible presence of God. I did a bit too...but wasn't unreserved enough like Jireh to express my worship that freely. HAHA!
After that the adults had their own games session and some of the kids came in to my house's study area and played computer games...They all played Plants VS Zombies...LOLS! Jireh & Gracy were anxiously trying to catch up with the game speed as the game progresses while the rest watched on...LOLS!
Ok, the rest didn't include the older ones that are 18 years old and above...Haha
Jethro, Lionel & myself went into my room and played my ELECTRIC GUITAR! :) Flaunted a bit of my rusty skills and let them play around with my guitar and POD XT Live :) haha.
Also found out that Jethro would be attending Heart of God soon. Hopefully his first visit will be the first of many more visits to come...and prayerfully after a while, he'll no longer be visiting but attending and soon reporting for ministry responsibilities in church. :)
Soon after our mini electric guitar session, it was time to go...
I didn't really take much pictures...my mum did...you can go see my facebook album. :) Here's a last Christmas-y picture I have of the event...
All in Christmas hats!!
Happy Birthday Jesus!! :)
