My Post-Birthday cum Pre-NS chalet! :)

My big day is over! :( haha. Well, I had lotsa fun :D My only unmet expectation is that we didn't get to play a big group game to bond everybody :( That's partly because everyone came super late and I had to start preparing the BBQ and it was also partly cos I was too caught up playing board games with my school friends and some closer church friends. Haha!

Here's the unfolding of this eventful day :D Chronologically...

Day 1 afternoon was spent admiring the chalet and playing bowling & pool with my brother & mum :)

Upon arrival @ the chalet, me and bro engaged in a game of chinese chess :)

I consecutively won my brother in the 3 rounds of chinese chess we played :D HAHAHA! I'm such a bully. LOLS!!

@ the living room :)

The bedroom! :)

The stairway leading to the bedrooms...haha

Bowling :D

Pool-ing :D

Swimming...ok not really. LOLS.

One of the little pond with a bridge littered across the bungalow units :D

Swing-ing :D

Finally Guang Yao, Chor Seng, Royston & Jill arrived! Whoo hoo! :D We had dinner by a little eatery by the luscious golf course. :D

We then engaged in our (me & my few board gaming church friends) all-time favourite board game : Bang! Whoo hoo. Chatting and playing and just chilling is what I really love to do :D

Finally the arrival of my poly friends :D

Then came the arrival of Anna & Abigail :D

It was around 1.30am when we decided to play the D'turret Lounge a visit for the 2 complimentary free drinks and for a game of pool over there :) "We" excludes Chor Seng who refused to go with us cos he wanted to continue playing "Plants VS Zombies" -_-" Haha.

Upon arrival at the lounge, guess what? I forgot to bring my complimentary drink tickets -_-" We then cam-whored our way back :D Haha! Here's a few shots... :D

Me, Abigail & Anna :)

Abigail initiated this shot with her photo-arrangement instincts. HAHA! :) It's a nice shoot Abigail :)

Me, Anna & Royston :) - The Abigail shot. HAHA!

Royston, Me & Anna on the resorts' buggies :D

When we returned to the chalet, we decided to watch "Terminator : Salvation" on my laptop. Haha. I brought my speakers btw... :D

Halfway through the show, Sam arrived from Night Safari with his girlfriend (Awww..haha!) and Anna & Abigail went to sleep - partly cos they had choir @ 9am the next day and partly cos the show didn't really entertain them. HAHA!

Day 2 morning was spent playing board games, Sam's PS3 games & Plants VS Zombies. HAHAHA! We wanted to play basketball but decided that it was too hot to play. HAHA!

And check out our first cook-together-session of the day :D HAHA! Our lunch...

Me, Royston, Chor Seng & Sam enjoying the result of our amateur culinary skills. HAHA!

The noodles were abit soggy. But it was still consumable. Thank God. HAHA!

Royston, Chor Seng & I :D

Next was the arrival of Meryl & Rebekah! :D And the return of Anna & Abi. Haha. And we continued playing "Bang!" :D

Rebekah & I playing "Bang!" with Abi as the maid serving us water. HAHAHA! Just kidding! :D

Me, Sam & Royston :) w/ Sam taking this opportunity to peek at my cards -_-" Haha.

And you thought I was blatant in my cheating - Sam was caught on camera! HAHAHA!

It was around 5pm when majority of my friends arrived :D So we started BBQ-ing :) These are the four heroes who started the fire and started the BBQ going :)

Jon Wee, Royston, Sam & Myself :)

Next we proceeded to bowl! Whoo hoo! We went to bowl at around 12am :)
Regina, Jake, Me & Arnold :D

Daryl & Myself :)

Joshua, Lebbeus, Me & Joel :)

Abigail wanted all of us to take a group photo with us wearing the same bowling shoes seated in an egg position. Haha! She's really good with all the photo-arrangements she comes up with :D

Me & Abigail :D In our bowling shoes :D Haha.

Well, only I consented in taking that shot. Haha. LOLS. I didn't go into the egg position like she did cos I figured that my hairy-ness would be amplified in that pose. HAHAHA!

Finally, @ 2am+ we proceed to the D'turret lounge to redeem our 2 complimentary fruit punches and for a game of pool :) "We" consisted of Lebbeus, Gabriel & Myself :) By 2am, those not staying over had gone home. Haha.

Lebbeus & Me :)

Well, I lost to Lebbeus again -_-" I guess I'm rusty. HAHAHA!

By then, I had a sore throat and cough developing. I think it's due to my lack of water intake, excessive heaty food intake and too much shouting and screaming on my part. HAHAHA!

Overall, I really enjoyed myself in this little retreat cum chill-out cum catch-up session :) I just love chalets and sleepovers where we all hang out like no-one's business, have HTHT @ night & squeeze into bed with friends. Haha!

Daryl, I hope I didn't squeeze the sleep out of your eyes too. HAHA!! :D Was abit sick & uncomfortable tt night so I flip and flopped quite alot in bed. HAHA! Hope it wasn't too detrimental to your playing on stage the next day! HAHAHA!

And I need to thank these few angels for helping on this special day :)

And also thanks for helping to BBQ 70% of the food! :) Appreciate it Meryl! :)

26th August 2009 :)

I'm pretty free now so I'll be blogging more often...Until September 11...haha

At the beginning of this week I already made up my mind that I'll fast lunch on wednesday and head to church to pray ard 2pm+ and later play badminton @ Macpherson CC at 5pm.

And then came an offer to watch "Where Got Ghost?" with Joel, Yang Cheng, Ding Zhou & Norman @ TAMPINES GV!! The show's @ 1.30pm so I told them I'd join them. I'd just head down to church to pray after that. However, the timing is too tight and citing the travel time to church, I won't have that much time to really pray & worship. (I usu. p&w min. 2 hours :D)

So I last min. told them I wouldn't join them lor..Sorry guys! HAHA! In the end I prayed at home since no one was at home...It'd be like the church prayer room. HAHA.

I had a great time with Jesus :) Baring my heart, my frustrations, my hopes, my dreams, my family, my friends, my church, etc...Life is easy, but I sometimes just try to play God and judge ppl and all...which leads to many complications...ok..details are saved for the ones who really love me and understand me. HAHA!

Then I went to play my favourite sport BADMINTON! WHOO WHOO. It's been months since I touched that sport becos of work.

Had a great game, made many good shots and smashes and I took many smashes well too :D I'm satisfied :) Haha!

Uncle Loong Fatt was like "Whoa, Jonavan after so long nv play still not bad eh?" Haha.

Yup, I want to go out with my friends soon! I'll organise something :D Good night :)

ATTENTION! :D + Today :)

Melvin bought me a pair of WHITE LOAFERS as my birthday gift! :) WHOO HOO! :D It's nice, I like it :D

So the ATTENTION is for those thinking of buying me loafers, PLEASE DON'T! HAHAHA!!! I'm so BHB man...organising my own b'day gifts..HAHAHA!

My past few days were spent really falling in love with my guitar and Bible. HAHA. I've been playing and singing and worshipping God for hours the past few days :) I've also read the Bible for hours...The Old Testament stories are really, really intriguing and at times heart-wrenching seeing the stubborn Israelites repeat their same mistakes over and over...It's so like all of us...Haha.

AND, I've listened to Brett Manning's Singing Success module...FINALLY. I've practiced his vocal techniques and warm-up techniques so far...and getting to the crux of his $300 special vocal training programme.

The programme guarantee's a full refund if you don't gain an octave or something like that. So I shall see the outcome of my learning. HAHAHA!

Yup, taking my free time to do all these stuffs which I always wanted to do...Just improve my guitar skills and singing technique :)

And I'm pretty free too...so if you need company, feel free to gimme a call :) Haha. :D

And my big day's this saturday! :) Whoo hoo! :D Thanks Meryl for being so helpful in the games planning and game lending aspect! :) Appreciate you :)

Youth Anni 2009!

The carnival concept of this year's youth anniversary was really cool and super fun! :) However, the planning and coordinating is super tedious. But in the end, it was a success :) The event made $$ and we had 200+ new friends and visitors! :)

That day I brought 9 friends to the event and we really had a lot a lot of fun :D

Once again, I shall let pictures tell the story :) ...

Me, Joshua & Kirk :D

After finish setting up stall...We just put on our scarfs...HAHA!

Anthony, Myself & Zane :)

Before my friends came, I decided to play guitar hero with Anthony & Zane :) HAHA!

Royston, Myself, Jay Lloyd & Sam

If you're wondering why our faces were so contorted, it was because Mr Jay Lloyd decided to squeeze our buttocks...HAHA. He loves such photo shoots...HAHA!

Joan, Myself, Sam, Chor Seng, Royston & Mei Zhen :)

Having our "Ahoy Maties" Baguette & drink meal :)

Chor Seng on hangman! :)

Chor Seng can do more than 1 pull-up now! He claims he can do 3. Haha! That's what NS makes you turn out to be man..HAHA.

Sam w/ his forfeit - Bittergourd juice! XD

The result of guessing one wrong letter? You get to spin the forfeit wheel and he got a cup of Bittergourd juice! AHAHA! LOLS.

We're right at the jousting station! My anticipated station of the day!! HAHAHA.

Before my performance with my band was a dance performance by "Fission X" a local dance group in our youth church! :)

Here's a lil' video footage of their dance which I videoed down :)

This is the video of my performance testimony :) Do watch it! In the first 2 minutes you'll hear Chor Seng praise me "Jonavan zai tan guitar de shi hou be jiao shuai" HAHAHA!

Thanks Chor Seng :) Next time, say it to my face. HAHAHAHAHA! Just joking :D

This is the video performance of my song :) Courtesy of Lebbillie Lau who videoed the whole performance down :D Thanks Lebbillie! :D

After my performance means that...I'm ready to be DUNKED!!! HAHA!

This is a picture of their first attempt. HAHA!

Dunking attempt 1...fail. HAHA!

If you think I went in, you thought wrong! HAHA! They tossed me in but I grabbed the side of the dunking pool and flung myself out w/o touching the water. HAHA!

When Brian saw that he was like "Whoa...Jonavan you sure can survive in Army, never say die attitude.." HAHAHA!

There's one more picture of me and my TP friends with me sitting on the dunking machine stuck in someone's camera...Daryl was the one who took the photograph. Haha. I'll retrieve it soon :)

After the dunking-scuffle episode, I changed and came back for more pictures! :D HAHA!

Me & Daryl! :D w/ the Singapore Flyer behind :)

Me & Christopher, our dear event coordinator :)

The Chengs & I :D Haha.

Melvin & I! :) W/ the lil' water feature behind :D

Me, my brother, Boon Kang & Benjaming w/ the youth anni photo frame! :D

Me, Jake & Kirk w/ the youth anni photo frame :D

Overall, this event was really fun! :) I really have many vivid memories of this events from stage to playing games to the dunking...ESPECIALLY the dunking! HAHAHA!

But I wonder, what actually was the purpose of this event? They said it was a soft-sell evangelism where people get to know what church actually is like and how fun it is. Hmmm...I guess they fulfilled that :)

Souls saved? Friends coming back on Sunday service? Zero. Haha! I'm not trying to po leng shui or be a wet blanket, but after all the hustle and bustle, I feel it's just another event without long-term change.

We're lowering our event expectations and soon we'll just be spending money on events without changing lives, on a macro scale that is (citing the fact that a macro event like this where thousands of bucks are spent).

The Church (captial C - the ekklesia; the Church Jesus defined) is called to be way more than that. And I hope that our leaders are working toward there :) If not, we won't be having many more anniversaries...HAHA! No growth = Close shop. Haha. I'll continue doing my part :)

I hope we'll celebrate many more anniversaries to come! :D Whoo hoo! Happy Birthday Youth Alive! May God see us through this season :)
