Daryl's OCC 79/10

Just after attending one of my best friend's POP, yet another of my bestie is also passing out...For him, it's not called passing out, it's called Commissioning.

I finally have to salute 2LT Daryl after his 79/10 Commissioning Parade.

Before I relate the flow of events, let me give you the backdrop of the story...

- Dearest Daryl is going to be commissioned on 15th January 2011.
- He only has 6 tickets (after taking like 4 or 2 from his friends)
- He invited 11 of us.

Do you see a problem? Haha.

The 6 tickets were for his family members...His dad, mum, Cai Jie, Cheryl, Meryl & Jeremy. Ok, Jeremy's not officially family but.......they're considering him to be. LOLS!

The 5 of us...Me, Marc, Matthew, Jon Wee & Yourong had to do sneak attack and flank our way in...HAHAHA!
So I met up with Marc & Matthew. Matthew then brought us in through the backdoor of OCS through SDC (Singapore Discovery Centre)...we walked for like 2km man!! SO DARN FAR IN!!!

We walked through this jungle trail where there was a danger sign that says "Beware of Snakes"...I was like..%$&*($&@#*!()$&@*)(% THERE ARE SNAKES IN OCS?!

Nevertheless, we made it there and it started to drizzle. Upon reaching the grandstand entry, an officer cadet asked us if we had tickets. Marc was like "Err...Matthew, where you put the tickets?...Still with our other friend right? Ok, we wait for our friend to come first..."

DIAOS. We then went to the toilet to try to find another way in...But the marshallers (officer cadets in their No. 1 outfit) WERE EVERYWHERE!!

Back door failed. We then met up with Uncle Peter & Aunty Doris (Daryl's parents) and went in using their invitation card. LOLS!

The dua lao sai thing is...the moment we met up with them, Cheryl's first ask-out-loud-for-everyone-to-hear-question was "HOW YOU ALL COME IN??"

-___-"!!!!

That wasn't all, when we reached the grandstand entry area where they checked tickets, she asked us again "I thought you all went to photocopy the tickets?"

HU LEE YA!!!

No words could've describe our agony then. Such pure innocence that could've wasted our 2km hike in from the backdoor...LOLS!

The best part is, when we went in, Jon Wee & Yourong were already seated in the grandstand, with the fan blowing at their heads... -___-"

We seated separately though...
Their means of entry? BLATANTLY taking the bus in and trailing with another family in...!@%$&*#(&#@$)(%*&$#*%()$ HUUUULLEEEEEYAAYAYAYA!!!

We could've done the same!! So much for the stealth flanking of SAFTI MI...LOLS!

So that was our top secret, high-level, commando-style infiltration of OCS...HAHAHA! So yup, pictures...

The only piece of evidence that Marc was there...LOLS!

Marc came with us...and he left without us. Marc left even before the parade started. LOLS!! The parade started late though because they waited for the rain to subside. So yup, that was Marc's awesome visit to OCS. Haha!

Can you see Daryl? The middle cutesy guy? haha.

This was how rabak the rain was...The car that ferried President Nathan leaving after the parade inspection.

The moment the parade started, the drizzle became heavier...When President Nathan went down in the car (above) to inspect the parade, the drizzle turned into rain.

You could hear the crowd's response...a "hoorrrr" audible sound of "jia lat" could be heard when the frequency of the rain's pitter patter increased.

The thing is, they didn't provide an umbrella because they thought a drizzle wouldn't do much harm. Little did they know that President Nathan would become the first president to be drenched in his blazer...Haha.

The rest of the marching drills and all, you don't want to know. I didn't take much pictures of the parade either. LOLS.

Ok now here's the good part. Daryl had 6 dinner tickets. 2 specially for his parents at the VIP dinner reception and 4 for the buffet dinner. Daryl bought 2 more buffet dinner tickets from his friend as he didn't have anyone to give it to.

Initially, the 4 tickets are to be used by Cai Jie & Cheryl + Jeremy & Meryl. But they didn't want to go so WE GOT THE 4 TICKETS!! Me, Matthew, Jon Wee & Yourong! :D Thank God Marc left if not we'd have to draw lots man...haha!

Yup, after the parade we headed to the Warrior's Hall for our buffet dinner :D

On the way there...I met several friends...

My BMT platoon mate! REC Kenneth Cheng! Now a 2LT :D

Guess who took the photo for me & Kenneth? One of our BMT SEC COMD!! HAHAHA! We both forgot his name and didn't bother asking LOLS! I just remembered his name...3SG Koh Wen Fong. LOLS!

Kenneth still irritatingly bent down and flashed his rank at him...LOLS! Wen Fong was short of giving him a tight slap and showing us his pink IC. HAHA!

Walking down the aisle I further bumped into Joan, Jill & Chee Yong! LOLS!

Take 1 with my cam

Take 2 with Joan's camera :D

Last shot again with Joan's camera...haha.

We finally reached Warrior's Hall for our buffet dinner :D It wasn't much of a buffet though, when we went for round 2, the food already cleared... -__-"

Jon Wee, Yourong, Myself & Matthew :D

Guess who took the photo for us?

Guests who shared the table with us. 4 ah-nehs! LOLS! Throughout our meal, we kept cracking jokes in hokkien about them and we were laughing away hysterically right in front of them...HAHAHA!

Matthew was the worst. His laughter made our laughters worse cos now we were not just laughing at our jokes, we were laughing at Matthew's laughter! HAHA!

I wonder what the Indians are telling each other man "I think these Chinese are laughing at us, let's whack them!" or something like that...HAHA! Can't be, if that was their conversation, I wouldn't be typing this post now. LOLS!

After our dinner we waited for like 3 hours++ for Daryl to finish his special dinner reception -__-" We almost died of boredom...In our boredom we just snapped photos lor...haha.

Here's an interesting series...

Matthew with closed eyes

Matthew trying to open his eyes...

Success! Eyeballs can be fully seen!

HAHAHA! Now you know that you need three shots on average with Matthew in order to get a picture with him with his eyes open...HAHAHA!

FINALLY, the arrival of our guest-of-honour, 2LT Daryl Tan Weiquan!! After waiting at his assigned admin wingline for like 3hours++ we finally get to take a picture with him and share this special moment with him!! Haha.

The first precious photo :)

Take 2 :D

I don't know what's so suspicious about a twist sign...haha!

You can't see the rank...hahaha

Group photo! :D

In his dad's car :)

Yourong's turn. He looks like a policeman when he wears it..HAHA!

Yup, that was Daryl's big day! His Officer's Commissioning Ceremony :) Congratulations 2LT Daryl! :D
