Off to Church Camp! :D

We're setting off for Malacca tomorrow! :D The exciting thing about this trip is that, my parents won't be going! HAHA! Good & bad la...LOLS.

After church camp, my parents will be driving up to pick us and we'll continue our holiday from there and we'll be back by Friday :D

I'm rooming with my bestie Daryl so I'm sure it'll be pretty fun :D Anyway, let me think on the spot now some expectations I have for this camp...Hmmm...

1) I want to get to know 3 people better. Is it measurable? O well, I'll put in the effort to at least like know something more about 3 more peeps :D

2) I want to have an encounter with God. Be it a reassurance touch, confirmation of direction, re-ignition of my passion, etc...

3) I want to fulfill my shopping list!!! :D :D HAHAHA!

4) I want to be punctual for all services! :D

Yup, I hope I'll come back feeling a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment :D See you guys who're not going next friday! :)

3rd day of being a civilian :D

Friday was great :) On thursday night I felt like playing badminton! So I decided to call people and managed to book a court! It's been super long since I played my favourite sport, so to those who were present there to accompany me, thanks! :D haha.

I played mainly with Daniel, Anthony, Matthew & Jeremy Teo cos the rest of my zone members refused to play with us... -.-" haha.

Matthew & I were playing against Anthony & Daniel when suddenly, Anthony decided to make things interesting...The losing team will down 200 push ups! HAHA! We took on the challenge...and we got the 200 push ups!! HAHAHA!

I did 50 & Matthew did 150. HAHA! Matthew being an OCT (Officer Cadet) should be fitter than me and should train more. HAHAHA!

Up till now, my hands are aching...haha..Haven't done that many push-ups at one shot for quite some time already...haha.

After that, Matthew came to my place and we had a match of the good Ol' Counterstrike (CS) V1.6. haha. It was me & my sister VS matthew & my brother...haha...Apparently, Matthew haven't gone through ATP (Advanced Trainfire Package) that's why he keep kena owned by me & my sis. HAHA! We played until Matthew needed to leave for his camp...sad. Haha.

Next we had dinner @ Sakae Teppanyaki @ Century Square with our grandparents (Dad's side) The food was really good :D haha.

Jerina, Jeravan, Yeye, Mama, Daddy & Mummy :)
Me, Jerina, Jeravan, Mama & Daddy :D

So yup, that was a cool Friday :) And I wana play L4D2 versus mode with at least 3v3!! HAHA! Couldn't get a gang yet...haha.

Anyway, CHURCH CAMP IS TOMORROW!! WHOO HOO! Can't wait to go man :D haha. :)

BMT reflections :)

It's been 3 looooooooooong months. I've got several milestones that I'm proud of, and regrets that dot my 3 month stay...

Milestones
1) I've NEVER been on STATUS!!! And I've never stepped into the Tekong MO! :) Hahaha! Wei Sheng keeps suaning me that I'm not a real recruit because I've never stepped into the Medical Centre. My swift reply is "well, I know how to train safe :)" Haha.

In Tekong, even a sore throat can excuse you from activities. So, many people visit the MO for many reasons...Real fractures, fake fractures, real fever, self-induced fever, knee pain, neck pain, sore eye, sore throat, sore balls, etc...Haha. So I've been a great soldier by training safe and keeping the doctors away :)

2) I've NEVER done guard duty, sentry duty or any shit duties! :) This may be a milestone for me. But it's definitely not a milestone for others. HAHAHA!!

3) I've gotten my IPPT SILVER AWARD! :) Not many people graduate with a silver medal for IPPT ok? So if you wanna downplay my achievement, check out statistics - only 25% of my coy got silver. Other coys? Worse. Because my company got the Best Company Award! :)

4) I've NEVER got my rifle stunt! :) This is no biggie but I still think it's quite an achievement cos many of my platoon mates got their rifles stunt by our commanders...One of their rifles was even stunt by a medic.... -_-" Champion for life. HAHA!

Regrets
One of my greatest regret in BMT I think is the not opening up of myself to most people. Cos after judging here and there then I choose who to open up myself to and all...and this has resulted in me not making many friends...

I will definitely change that :) Haha. Duno why it could turn out this way too...haha.

Learning points
1) I must say this 3 months has taught me what submission really is. I've learnt to submit to the authority above me. Like your leaders or not, you still have to obey them in order to get things moving. They are, after all, sanctioned by higher authority to take charge of us.

Some of my platoon mates don't know how to obey the platoon ICs and they only obey the sergeants because they can punish us if we don't. Such obedience is out of fear of the regimentation and power our commanders have over us and it does not spring out of a spirit that wants to see cohesion and unity abound in the platoon.

2) I've also learned what grace is. A few of my section mates don't really know what that is. They just shout commands and orders around and condemn your every mistake you make. When the same is done back to them, their faces turn black in pride.

Grace is the art of accepting people and helping them along and not condemning them even though they're in the wrong. What do you get out of making them feel bad?

3) I've learned that our human body is stronger than we think. Through all the training, I have discovered that I really can do much more than what I thought I could do...Through the road marches, SOC and especially field camp I learnt that I just need to stay positive and I'm able to survive whatever training is thrown at us.

I guess this is all the reflections I have for now...I've not slept properly since the 24km road march man...So I'm off to bed now :)

POP LO! :)

This day finally arrived. After all the training this moment was worth it :)

Today was a rather tiring day. With only 3hrs of sleep, started our 24km road march @ 10.30pm.

Initially, I was pretty afraid of this last key event. I was afraid I'd fall out, faint from exhaustion, etc...because the previous few road marches - 12km & 16km - was really, really bad. I managed to pull through, but not without feeling like I lost my limbs. Haha.

However, this 24km was really no kick. I didn't feel half as worn out as the 12km & 16km road marches man! Haha. That's partly because our FBO didn't have our store items and because we were marching at night so the weather was cool and nice :)

The only 2 setbacks about marching at night is you can barely see where you are going and you have to fight real hard to keep your eyeballs open. HAHA. The low visibility at night resulted in my stepping into a dozen mud pools and ditches. Thank God I didn't sprain my ankle like a few others.

Now for the graduation parade!

This is the part where our parents will come down and put the jockey cap on for us :)

Me & Daddy :)

Mummy & me :D

After the cap throwing is the photo taking :D Most of my pictures are stuck in the cameras of my platoon mates...haha.

Iswardi & Me :)

This is my section buddy. Thank God for such a helpful and accomodating buddy man :)

Guitarists: me, Gregory & Awal :)
Jeremy & myself :)

Was about to leave when I bumped into Jeremy, my secondary school friend :) He used to be shorter than I am. And check out his height now...Haha. Training in Kestrel makes you taller I guess. HAHA. Whatever...LOLS.
Teck Hui & me :)

Bumped into Teck Hui @ the O-so-slow photo collection booth :) He is my long lost primary school best friend! :D haha. The first time he called me at company line I couldn't even recognise him. HAHA! His company Hawk is just beside mine, Jaguar :)

Daddy, me & Mummy :)
Daddy & Me @ the HQ parade square :)

On the afternoon before my 24km road march Teck Yong was asking me as we both looked out at the view from our bunk corridor "Will you miss this view?"

It's pretty ironic but I think I will miss this place even though I dreaded it so much. The memories are and will always be this vivid :)

Good bye Tekong :)

Brotherhood?

The highlight of this week's BMT other than the super, uber tiring Graduation Parade Rehearsal is a little skirmish in my bunk once again which led to a nice discussion session. :)

The atmosphere in the bunk was great on that day. Why? Because most of the big-and-judgemental-mouths in my bunk were gone due to the NE rehearsals. All but one was gone...and that's how it started. Haha.

The details of the quarrel are unimportant. After he left, all the bunkmates that were left in the bunk were the ones I truly respect and enjoy being with. And that was when we talked about what we felt about our section.

The main thing brought out by one of 'em is "I don't feel the brotherhood and friendship here" That's so true. Most of them (mainly 4 of them I feel) were more interested in pin-pointing your faults and judging you rather than making friends. They don't care about how or what you feel, they just speak and act as they will and think that they're always in the right.

The song "No Love" by Simple Plan is accurate in describing our bunk.

And that's the reason why some of us always don't turn up for the outings that THEY organise. Then they will always say like "wah, we are one section lei, one platoon lei, etc.." and all the bullshit when they can't even accept and treat everyone as fellow friends.

So much for our V3R (our section's goals) written on that piece of mahjong paper pasted in our bunk wall.

I'm too lazy to speak up. Because I know I want to low-profile myself. But at times I just give them the killer-stare and say nothing. This is the first time I don't feel like bringing about change in where I am. Man..I needa buck up. I'm always the catalyst, or so it was... Haha.

I guess I shall open up in my next posting :)

Anyway, that few of us are just waiting for POP and we can kiss those idiots goodbye. In this world, there'll always be such people.

And our Platoon Commander (PC) is leaving! He left us with this little gift...a picture of all of us during field camp! LOLS!

ME! :)

This was taken on the last day of field camp. We were all packing up and ready to return to company line! That's the reason why I didn't really bother to camo my face properly...HAHA!

POP LO!
