One Life Twill Soon Be Past...

Ok, before I start on this post...Just wanna say I've been too busy playing, planning trips, going out, having fun that I have no time to blog about all my adventures here in China. Haha!

The most updated database of my adventures is on Instagram, which will give you the important snapshots of my adventures :) Facebook is the most comprehensive database of all my expeditions here. The full wealth of photos are all there.

But of course, here, you'll find the best shots, enlarged and the story behind the pictures :) And you'll also find restricted pictures. LOL. Maybe, maybe not.

Anyway, had a really, random, awesome day today. Here's how it went:

Me & Chor Seng woke up late for work. We're supposed to leave house by 7.50am latest 8am and we woke up at 7.45am. Kthxbye.

Rushed out without shaving, without touching my hair and without my usual cornflakes + cereal breakfast...and I realized later in the day, we have a dinner appointment with a group of friends! -.- HAHAHA!

Nevertheless, I think I still look awesome. Haha! Kah Wei also remarked "Your hair ok what." :D HAHA! Yup, he's my colleague and fellow intern sent here from NTU.

I was on Facebook and I happened to see that one of my friends, a FOOT'12 freshie, Vernon Chow, liked his friend's comment on the recent tide of Facebook confessions page.

This is what Kenneth Chew (Vernon's friend) said:
"Confessions" that no longer require a repentant heart? "Confessing" to present the cool image? To be understood? Another word redefined by post-modern hipsters seeking attention. Seriously, people with so much excess energy ought to just lift."

I was like "Wow". I see so much vision in his words and an understanding of society and culture there. And he sounded all too Christian.

True enough, when I read his Facebook bio, he is a strong, devout, Christian. As he described himself, I could hear his heart for Christ. And his passion for apologetics, music and the way he describes himself about how he thinks a lot and how he is a confrontational person really resounded and reverberated within me.

I felt like I could feel him, understand him and we possess the very same qualities. Even his writing style is fierce and direct like mine. Wow.

I didn't even need to look at his profile picture (I did in the end. LOL) and pictures of him and I'm already like totally attracted to his character and wanna know this guy.

So I just dropped him a Facebook message:

"Just wanted to say, amazing write-up on yourself on your Facebook page! Stumbled on your post about recent tide of 'confessions page' via Vernon Chow.

I'm also highly passionate about Christian apologetics, music (songwriter, singer, worship leader Hee :D) and Jesus Christ. I also am a man of a million words and a billion thoughts.

Loved your quotes as well. Haha. For me, I declare all these much more comprehensively on my blog. Haha.

Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi" and tell you that whatever you've typed is amazing. Prolific writers and thinkers like you are rare in today's hedonistic, depraved and instant-gratification generation. Yup, I really believe God will use you mightily in His time to turn this generation back to Him

Sorry for being so random...but yeah, I am this random HAHA! God bless!"

I was telling Yiling & Xuan Qi "hopefully we can become awesome friends, fight and die for the same cause". I see so much strength and vision in his words and so much similarity and focused passion in him.

On the other hand, someone also sent me a random Facebook message telling me that he's really encouraged by what I typed in my Facebook bio too. Haha! That guy went something like "Wow your write up is awesome! I didn't know you could share Christ like that!" But mine wasn't as comprehensive and lengthy as Kenneth's. Haha.

Anyway, hours later, Kenneth's reply came "That's very nice of you I appreciate the gesture! Well, thank you! (and hello as well). I must tell Vernon that he's got pretty cool friends God bless you too!"

I was like -_-" Ok...Since he didn't wanna talk more, it's fine. Haha! I also didn't really reply and "entertain" the other guy who pm-ed me. HAHA!

Yup, that was a totally random story that I had to share...Because this is the first time I'm doing something like that. HAHA!

Lastly, I found this awesome poem by C.T Studd. The line "Only one life, 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last." has been used by many preachers, and one of them, I clearly remember, is Ps Peter Chng from Bethel Assembly :)

So here's the full poem. Let the rhyme and diction impact you :)

“Two little lines I heard one day,

Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgement seat;
Only one life,’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice,
Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave,
And to God’s holy will to cleave;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years,
Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill,
living for self or in His will;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore,
When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way,
Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,
In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e’er the strife,
Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn,
And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone,
Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, “twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Now let me say,”Thy will be done”;
And when at last I’ll hear the call,
I know I’ll say “twas worth it all”;
Only one life,’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last. ”

— extra stanza —

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
And when I am dying, how happy I’ll be,
If the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee.”

C.T. Studd

Yup, in a the blink of an eye, I'm halfway through my attachment already!! :( And I'm really attached to my friends and life here :(

It really is indeed an attachment period. HAHA! A time where we can all run away from Singapore together and discover things, play and have fun :)

This is definitely the highlight of my entire university life and probably my whole life :) Yup, will update my adventures when I have the time!! Thousands of photos to edit and millions of words to type! Gimme time! :)
