1st Choir Duty! :)

Yesterday's service was awesome! :) Two things made it awesome.

1) It was my first time on stage/higher ground in a loooonnnngggg time. I was on choir duty! Standing up on the tall choir steps and worshipping God freely was a challenge and breathtaking. HAHA!

Breathtaking because of the height. I was on the highest step!! So I was pretty afraid of falling off the whole platform.

And we still had to jump on that tall and narrow steps! HAHA! Really increased my faith quota. HAHAHA!

Anyway, was reminded of this quote by Bob Sorge "Worship leading is taking public your private cry of worship". I was worship leading...indirectly. The choir is the visual and audible inspiration to the worshippers on the ground to worship.

Question to ask ourselves as a choir is "Is the congregation inspired to worship when they see and hear us?"

Yup, was a refreshing experience.

Our choir attire was supposed to be Tshirt with denim jacket. However, my choir conductor sms-ed us "T-shirt with denim jacket/shirt" something like that. So I interpreted it as can wear either denim jacket or long sleeved formal shirt.

I chose the latter and realized how wrong I was in interpreting her SMS. Haha!

Anyway, my mum was coming to service too so I asked her to bring a denim jacket for me. Haha.

Through this choir session, I came into contact with 4 awesome leaders:

i) Su Ling - My choir conductor
Her passion and desire to impart to us is really inspiring. She also replies all my SMSes instantaneously! HAHA! Awesome, on the ball, woman of God.

ii) Huan Bin - My choir conductor
His candid guidance was really encouraging. He gives us a "I'm also learning with you guys!" kinda feel eases the atmosphere.

iii) Stella Chan - My choir team leader
Her candour and ever bubbly presence never fails to revitalise the atmosphere. The way she engages people is simply amazing. I think she's better than me at this. Haha. Got somewhat similar flair...I'm gaining back that flair I lost... :D Haha.

iv) Clara Tan - My choir team leader
Her smooth, classy, honest and intellectual style of discourse will also make you feel at ease. When you find out she's from SMU, you'll go "No wonder" cos most of my SMU friends also possess the same kinda "seh"...Haha.

I SMSed this whole chunk and other feedback to all of them...about having a duty choir musician and having the dress code told to us earlier and all...I'm too lazy to type out all the details in my 8 SMS-long sms I sent to the 4 of them. Haha.

All in all, had an awesome experience with my new choir mates! :) Here's a lil' choir group photo we took after service :D

Found me? Haha

2) God really spoke powerfully to me through Ps How's sermon...I've already logged it down in my computer under the "Prophecies and significant testimonies in my life" document.

Yes, I type out all these so that I can look back and remember the special things that God speaks to me in this life's journey.

So yup, here's the raw, candid and honest testimony of mine, copy and paste from my word document. HAHA!

Ps How was preaching a sermon about “Building your own altar” – refer to sermon in “The Gurus” folder in “sermons and sharing” folder.

As he was preaching, I could already feel a stirring in my heart that God wants to re-affirm his covenant with me and my allegiance to Him.

Had a little “altar call” session and God began to speak to me, reassuring me of His covenant with me and asking me “What about you? What is your heart to me?”

I began to weep as I renewed my commitment to God again; getting reminded of the fact that there is nothing and no one else more worthy to live for than Jesus.

I then recalled an incident in Bethel many years ago when pastor Benny Ho preached about being found at God’s feet at the end of the day. And at that altar call, I was also weeping like mad as God reaffirmed His covenant with me and as I re-pledged my loyalty to God.

As I type now, I also just recalled another session at Synergiz conference themed “Arrested” and Ps. Jeanne Mayo was preaching about getting arrested by God’s love for us. There I went to the altar and told “God, it’s been a long time since I’ve got a reassuring touch from You.” That’s when He filled me up and I knelt at the altar at Bethel Assembly of God and wept for over an hour.

This is more than His third time reaffirming His love and covenant with me. The covenant is referenced from a few scripture verses:
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Matthew 28:20b “…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

God also dropped these song lyrics in my heart:

When all is lost
I will be found
Here in Your courts
Here at Your feet
Back the altar I built
For you and me

Praise God! Yet another altar has been erected in my walk with God!

Yup, these 2 things made up an awesome service for me yesterday! :)

Look forward to many more of such encounters! :)
